Holly
Figueroa O'Reilly - Founder Indiegrrl Networking Forum/Honorary Member
& Advisor
Indiegrrl was founded by Holly "Figueroa" O'Reilly
in 1998 as a forum for information, networking, and conversation about
independent music from a female perspective. Holly remains in the organization
as an adviser and as an "Honorary Lifetime Member". Indiegrrl
is now more than a networking group of women singer songwriters and
is committed to bringing on new members and new sponsors for the growth
of supporting independent women singer songwriters, groups, and female
fronted bands. Indiegrrl welcomes, with open arms, all genres of music
and has representatives from just about every genre including solo artists,
duos, trios, and full female fronted bands. Indiegrrl produces events,
showcases, and more for our members to get involved in.

Vicki
Blankenship - Founder of Indie Music For Life, Inc., and head advisor
for the non profit and Indiegrrl Women in the Arts.
In 2005 Vicki Blankenship came on board as the new volunteer leader
for Indiegrrl. Her commitment to this organization working with Holly
in the past to boost membership and sponsor development, as well as
event organizing and promoting of Indiegrrl Showcases until the time
Holly passed the torch, gives her the understanding what the members
need. Her past business management experience and the Founder of Indie
Music For Life, Inc. non profit organization made her a great choice
to help take this organization to the next level of development. In
2006 Indiegrrl was put under the umbrella of the Indie Music For Life,
Inc. non profit with a goal to continue promoting its members and
bringing in benefits that will aid them in their career, as well as
a commitment to donate each year to the Indie Music For Life cancer
research fund raising efforts and the educational awareness programs
on music as therapy for cancer patients. In 2007 Vicki had a larger
vision for the organization and realized a larger goal would be to
include women in all aspects of the arts to network and showcase together.
The arts as a whole compliment each other.
"Film production needs music, comedy and music shows compliment
each other, spoken word and music compliment each other. Art galleries
need musicians for openings. Songwriters need radio play. Radio producers
need music. Visual artists are needed for design projects in music,
dance and more. Visual art, dance, music, comedy, music production
and film all compliment each other. Women in these industries need
a way to network together and give support and offer each other work.
Indie means much more than independent songwriters. Indie means Independent.
It is in this independence of artistic fields that a community of
professional women needs to circle around each other and give and
offer support and work together on projects." ~ Vicki Blankenship

The work
has begun to set forward the new face lift of Indiegrrl to bring in
members in all types of artistic careers to work together on future
projects and network and support each other. A new message board forum
where members of the organization can network together has been set
up. This will make it easier for them to network together and put a
call out for help when needed on individual projects. Once you join
Indiegrrl you will be given access to that message board. Yearly membership
to Indiegrrl is only $30. That membership fee is being used to set up
conferences, showcases, events, promotional material, operational costs,
and much more.
To help support and develop younger girls in the arts, Indiegrrl announced
in 2006 the new Junior/Teen Division for girls ages 10 to 17. Many of
the existing adult Indiegrrl Members will take on a mentoring role with
these junior members in hopes of developing the artistic and musical
minds of the future. If you have a girl between those ages, or you are
a girl interested in this program, please contact our office through
our contact page form.
Each month Indiegrrl will feature different members on the front page
of our website and an archive of these features is kept for reference.
Also stay up to date on future events and showcases on our events page
calendar. You can also stay up to date on the Indie Music For Life and
Laughs For Life events by visiting the Indie Music For Life website
at www.indiemusicforlife.org.
Larger Indiegrrl events will get special feature pages on this website
and we appreciate all the individual sponsors of those events and want
to give them a special thank you. Visit their individual websites by
clicking on their banner ads to learn more about them.
Please contact Indiegrrl if your company or business
is interested in the sponsorship program to support the growth organization
and our Indiegrrl members by offering discounts on services or products
that will benefit our member’s careers, or to help sponsor a major
event where you will gain national advertising coverage. We also need
items/services that can be put in prize packages for our annual song
writing contest or special event raffles. Please contact (info@indiegrrl.com)
directly if you would like to get involved.
